Arriving & Parking

• West End beach has a free public parking lot — arrive before 9am on summer weekends to secure a spot
• Street parking is available along Bienville Boulevard near several beach access points
• The island is small and walkable/bikeable — many vacation rentals are a short ride from the water

What to Bring

• Beach umbrella and stakes: The Gulf breeze can be strong — bring sand anchors, not just a spike
• Reef-safe sunscreen: The natural ecosystem here is worth protecting
• Cash: Several local vendors and eateries are cash-only
• Bug spray: Especially for evenings in warmer months — no-see-ums can be relentless near the dunes

Tides & Swimming

• Dauphin Island's Gulf-side beach has gentle surf most of the time — great for families
